Online dating is hard enough as it is. That’s why I’ll be doing some in-depth reviews of the most popular dating sites out there. And today I’ll be doing a comprehensive review of Our Time. But if you’re just looking for the most simplified version of everything, you can click here for my top dating site recommendations.
The idea behind Our Time is great. To put it simply – it’s a dating platform for singles who are 50+.
Payment Structure: Freemium
The payment structure here is fair. You can get by with the basic plan. And if you’d like to upgrade, you will get access to additional features such as mobile access, extra exposure, and the ability to see if your messages have been read.
Ease of Setting up an Account: Easy
Our Time gives you a nice walk-through for the account setup process. And the amount of information that you are asked to fill out is pretty reasonable.
There is something about the structure of the website that feels a bit messy and not so … up to date. There is a constant information overload going on here – notifications, recent blog posts, success stories, ad banners, messages, favorites, tokens, views, gifts, flirts, likes, it’s all just too much! This site is definitely more stressful than others when it comes to the ease of use.
Quality of Profiles: High
Of the profiles that are actually live and active, it seems that people do put a lot of detail into their answers, which is a huge plus!
Number of Members: Low
If you’re looking for a dating site that has numbers on its side, this may not be the right place to look. You’d be better off going to a mainstream dating service, like OkCupid or Tinder. It also seems that Our Time may be inflating their actual number of users by making the account deletion process so difficult.
A Few Pros:
Sometimes using a niche dating site is exactly the thing you need to keep things exciting. And this makes the idea of Our Time a really great one. Also, the members that are there seem to be trustworthy and of a high quality.
A Few Cons:
There have been massive complaints about encountering fake profiles on the site. And on top of that, Our Time makes it notoriously hard, if not impossible, to delete an account. I’ve even tried to delete mine after writing this review. But when clicking on account, it states that “access to account settings is currently unavailable”. So once you’re in there, you may be in there forever.
Overall Rating (1-10): 3
My honest opinion? With the growing popularity of mega dating sites like OkCupid, Tinder, Match, and Bumble, the need for niche dating sites like this one is becoming lower. You’ll most likely have better luck with one of the major players.
